[1] "The disappearing platforms" refer to Heat Man's stage, in which the player must cross a long series of disappearing and reappearing blocks to reach Heat Man. On top of the fact that these blocks are extremely tricky and difficult to cross, one misstep will cause the player a life since falling down into the lava below is an automatic death.
[2] "Item-2" is a jet sled obtainable by defeating Air Man. It allows the player to pass long gaps. Thus, with Item-2, the "disappearing platforms" will no longer be a problem since the player will be able to just fly over them.
[3] "The repeated pause technique" ("time barrage" in Japanese) refers to the technique of hitting the PAUSE button repeatedly to create a slow-motion effect on the game. With everything slowed down as much as the player likes, s/he can make highly accurate predictions of where attacks will land and where s/he should move to dodge.
[4] The "Energy Tanks", or E-cans, are a type of recovery item that fully recovers the user's health when used.
[5] The "Leaf Shield" is a weapon obtainable by defeating Wood Man. As Air Man receives astronomical damage from leaves, the Leaf Shield is considered the most and only effective weapon to use again Air Man.
[6] The easiest way to defeat Wood Man is to use Heat Man's Atomic Fire. However, to get to Heat Man easily, the player would need to beat Air Man first; to beat Air Man, the player would need to beat Wood Man first; to beat Wood Man, the player would need to beat Heat Man first. This creates a never-ending cycle of frustration, and this song was written based on this trilemma.
