Original / Romaji LyricsEnglish Translation
Ten to ten wo tsunagu you ni
Sen wo egaku yubi ga nazoru no wa
Watashi no kita michi soretomo ikisaki
As it joins one point to another,
That which my finger, drawing lines, traces
Is the road by which I came, or, perhaps, my destination.
Sen to sen wo musubu futari
Yagate minna umi ni tadoritsuki hitotsu ni naru kara
Kowakunai keredo
The two who tie one line to another;
In the end, since everyone finds his way to the sea,
I'm not afraid, yet...
Oh oh ikutsu mono kawa wo nagare
Wake mo kikazu ni
Ataerareta namae to tomo ni
Oh, oh, letting flow so many rivers*,
Without even paying heed to reason,
Together with the names they have been given...
Oh oh subete wo ukeireru nante
Shinakute ii yo
Watashitachi no itami ga ima tobidatta
Oh, oh, you don't have to
Accept everything, or anything of the sort;
Our pain has now taken flight.
That's why...
That's why I chose you
That's why...
That's why I chose you...
Ken to ken ga butsukariau oto o
Shiru tame ni takusareta ken ja nai yo
Sonna mujun de dare wo mamoreru no
This sword was not entrusted
In order for one to know the sound of two swords' striking;
Whom can one protect with such inconsistency?
Oh oh Nando mo sugata o kaete
Watashi no mae ni maiorita anata wo
Kyou wa sagashiteru
Oh, oh, changing form so many times,
You, who softly alighted before me;
today, I search for you.
Oh oh Doko demo ukeirerareyou to
Shinaide ii yo
Jibun rashisa to iu TSURUGI wo minna sazukatta
Oh, oh, it is better not to think
that one should just allow one's self be accepted anywhere;
A sword called 'Individuality' is bequeathed to all.
Oh oh Toki ni wa nagare wo kaete
Nani mo motazu ni
Ataerareta namae to tomo ni
Oh, oh, at times changing their course,
Without carrying anything,
Together with the names they have been given...
Oh oh subete wo ukeireru nante
Shinakute ii yo
Shiokaze ni mukai toritachi ga ima tobidatta
Oh, oh, you don't have to
Accept everything, or anything of the sort;
Turning to the sea breeze, the birds have taken flight.

* The verb "nagareru" in common usage, an intransitive verb, meaning "to flow" or "to run," the verb "nagasu" being its transitive equivalent, translating most readily into "to pour." Here, though, "nagareru" is being used transitively, its subject elided, hence the seemingly awkward construction "to let flow."
