Original / Romaji LyricsEnglish Translation
atatakai sunano ue wo arukidasuyo
kanashii shiraseno todokanai umibe he
kimiga inakutemo taiyou ga noboru to
atarashii ichinichi no hajimari
I walk out atop the warm sand, towards the seashore
where sad news doesn’t reach me.
Even without you here, the sun rises –
it is the beginning of one new day.
kyou eranda amidakuji no sen ga doko ni tsuzukuka wa
wakaranai
namakemonono watashi ga mainichi hataraku riyuu
As for the Amida-kuji* line I chose today,
I don’t know where it leads.
It is why, (despite) being lazy, I would work everyday.
ah ryoute ni sora wo mune ni arashi wo
ahh kimi ni owakare wo kono umibe ni nokosarete itano
wa itsumo oki tegami
ah yume no nakademo denwa goshi demo
ahh koe wo kikitai yo ahh kotoba kawasu no ga nigate
na kimi wa itsumo oki tegami
Ah on the sky in two hands... to the storm in the heart...
Ah farewell to you... Ah on this seashore,
a letter is always left.
Ah even in dreams, even over the phone,
Ah I want to hear your voice! Ah you, not being
good at connecting, are always a letter lying around.
isogashii to renraku tamani wasurechaukedo
dare ni datte ichinido wa arukoto
One occasionally forgets to keep in touch when busy,
but it happens to everyone once or twice.
kyou hanashita toshiueno hito wa hitoridemo daijyoubu
dato iu
ibuteshige na watashi wa mada kangaeteru tochu
The elderly person I talked to today says that it’s fine to be alone.
Dubious me... I’m still in the process of thinking it through.
ah hana ni namae wo hoshi ni negai wo
ahh watashi ni anata wo kono madobe ni kazararete
itano wa itsumo oki tegami
ah sukoshi dakedemo SHATSU no ue demo
ahh kimi ni furetaiyo oboete iru saigo no ichido wa
kanarazu kaeruyo
Ah give a name to a flower, give a star a wish,
Ah give me you. Ah what decorates this window sill
is always a letter.
Ah even only a little, even over your shirt,
Ah I want to touch you. Ah What I remember of
that last time was, "I’ll definitely return!"
ah yasuragu basho wo yume ni tsuzuki wo
ahh kimi ni okaeri wo ahh kono sekai no dokokakara
watashi mo okuri tsuzukeruyo
ah yume no nakademo denwa goshi demo
ahh koe wo kikitai yo ah kotoba kawasu no ga nigate
nara kondo kyuni inakunaru toki wa nanimo iranaiyo
Ah I’ll give a peaceful place, a continuation to my dream,
Ah a "Welcome back!" to you. Ah from somewhere
in this world, even I'll keep sending to you.
Ah even in dreams, even over the phone,
Ah I want to hear your voice. Ah if you're not good at relating, then the next time you disappear, I don’t need anything.

* Amida-kuji is a Japanese lottery-like game in which you choose a line and follow it according some rules. If that line leads to a prize, you win it.
The way I appreciate this is that this game involves both the elements of personal choice and of fate. It's not like pachinko where it's 100% fate/chance because you won't know where the token goes even if you put it into the same slot 10 times. But in this Amida-kuji game, each line leads to a definite end point, except that you won't know which line leads where until you get there. Pretty much like life as she describes so aptly.
